Overview - Taiwan Trip, 7D6N

This is the overview of my trip to Taiwan not too long ago. While I am working on the pictures and the post, here is the simplified of our itinerary.

Day 1
Kuala Lumpur - Taipei (Taoyuan)
- Ximenting
Upon arrival, met by representative and proceed to Ximenting for a fun time of shopping of the latest trends, fashion and get to enjoy some Taiwanese local delights. (Complimentary self service Ah Zhong Vermicelli)

Day 2
Taipei - Hualien (by Train)
- Tamsui Old Town
- Fisherman Wharf
- Lovers' Bridge
- Yehliu Geopark
- Chiufen
- Nanbin Night Market
After breakfast, proceed t Tamsui to visit the historical Tamsui Old Street, where can shop for Taiwan's famous snacks "Grandma's Iron Egg". Next, visit the Fisherman's Wharf, the filming site of the popular TV drama serial "Meteor Garden".

Then proceed to Yehliu Stone Park to see unique geological features such as fantastic rock formations sculptured by nature, with names that echo their shapes such as Queen's Head and Fairy Stone. Next, proceed to Chiufen. The filming site of "Sad City" which is located up in the hills of Northern Taiwan. You can see the old fashioned way of life that still exists. With the aura of an old mining that still apparent, Chiufen radiates a variety of emotions; here you can try some famous local snacks such as Dou Kou Beef Noodle, A-Pou fashion ball soup, Chiufen Yam Ball Soup and Shen-Ken Stink Toufu. Then travel to Hualien by train and will proceed to Nanbin Night Market.

Day 3
Hualien - Taitung
- Taroko Gorge
- Marble Factory
- Luye Hot Spring
- Master Bear Resort
Take an impressive tour to the Taroko Gorge - one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. Through the Taroko Gate, you will witness the magnificent beauty of the External Spring Shrine, Swallow Cave, Nine Turn Grotto and Tien Hsiang. Enrout to Lingzhi center. Follow by a visit to Taiwan's largest marble factory. Next, make our journey down to Taitung. Travel through East Rift Valley to Luye Hot Spring. The hot spring's characteristics is that the water comes from the underground stream which is good for the skin. Then check in to Master Bear Resort, there are many facilities including golf driving range, karaoke and heavenly lantern light to pray in the evening.

Day 4
Taitung - Kaohsiung
- Pinxi
- Fo Guang Shan Monastery
- Spring & Autumn Pavilions
- Dragon and Tiger Pagodas
- Liuhe Night Market
- New Jyuejiang Shopping Area
Head to Kaohsiung. On the way, we will visit Fo Guang Shan Monastery. Since established in 1967, it has evolved from a mountain-top bamboo monastery to the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan and it is an internationally recognized site of pilgrimage. The Great Buddha land has an Amitabha Buddha statue standing 120ft and is surrounded by 480 small statues. Enroute, visit Pearl Breeding Centre. Follow by the Spring & Autumn Pavilions where you can see the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas. Next we will proceed to Liuhe Night Market, a great bargains of shopping and local snacks. Then to New Jyuejiang Shopping Area which showcases the latest international fashion from fashion capitals like Tokyo, Paris, London, Milan and New York.


Day 5
Kaohsiung - Nantou - Taichung
- Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village
- Sun Moon Lake : Lake cruise
- Wen Wu Temple
- Feng Jia Night Market
- Five Cent Driftwood
After breakfast, we continue our journey to Nantou. Proceeded to Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village, a popular place introducing Taiwanese Aboriginal Heritage Cultures. It has an amusement park fill with thrilling and exciting rides. There is also a lush forest and beautiful European garden with hourly Aboriginal Cultural Shows. Thereafter, we continue to visit the biggest fresh water lake in Taiwan - Sun Moon Lake. The lake covers an area of 793 hectares and the length of the lake is about 33 km. It is divided into two section by Lalu Island. The southern part is shaped like a new moon and the northern part is shaped like a sun; hence the name Sun Moon Lake. Enjoy a romantic lake cruise in this beautiful Sun Moon Lake. Then visit Wen Wu Temple, which is dedicated to Confucius and Guandi. Proceed to Feng Jia Night Market to shop for low-price clothes and try delicious local snacks.

Day 6
Taichung - Taipei (bullet train) Taiwan High Speed Rail
- Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
- Martyr's Shrine
- National Palace Museum
- Shilin Night Market
- Taipei 101
After breakfast, experience "Bullet Train" ride on Taiwan High Speed Rail. Then we interchange our ride from The High Speed Rail to MRT to Chaing Kai-Shek Memorial Hall station to visit the C.K.S Memorial Hall. It is constructed in memory of the late president Chiang Kai-Shek. Continue to Martyr's Shrine, take picture f the ceremony of changing guards at hourly intervals. Next we visit the National Palace Museum. After that proceed to Shilin Night Market for more shopping and bargains. Then proceed to Taipei 101 World Building, one of the landmarks in Taipei (pay own expenses for the viewing gallery - NT400.)

Day 7
Taipei (Taoyuan) - Kuala Lumpur
Transfer to airport for flight home. Breakfast was provided in 'take-away'.
