Typica Cafe, Shaw Parade Plaza
Saturday, May 19, 2012
This is way way outdated post… I am embarrassed to mention the least. We were on our way to meet up with another friend of us when the sky turned gray and we were early to our ‘date’ therefore, my partner in crime suggested to make a short stop at Shaw Parade for a coffee session.
To me, the best place to be at when it is pouring is definitely in the cozy of a café. The smell of brewing coffee beans, titter tatter of the rain against the window, the slashing sound of the water from the vehicle and of course, the transformation of the grey clouds (without the thunder and lightning).
The little café is almost no place available we waited for a while for a couple to leave to have their table. While we were looking through the menu, the waitress so patiently explain to us and gave us suggestions based on our preference.
We were at Typica café when it is raining. Small and cozy with lots of window, we were greeted by their cheery staff and they are very patient in explaining to us the type of coffee and their recommendation according to our taste and needs.
Indonesia Java
Siphon - RM13.00 | Ice Drip - RM15.00
This is the ice dripped of Indonesia Java. The coffee is quite bitter for me and it came quite strong. It had a complex after taste, as it had a combination of earthy and spice. This was due to the unique soil of the highland of the coffee beans was planted (I am sure most of the coffee lovers would have know this) as was told. ^_^
Guatemala Superior
Siphon - RM18.00 | Ice Drip - RM18.00
Guatemala superior is a siphon brewed coffee. Though it has ice drip but I would always prefer a hot cuppa. The Guatemala coffee had a hint of fruitiness to its bold taste. This cuppa is recommended by the lady boss when I told her I want something not too strong. She recommended this as it is not too bitter. But on the contrary, YH said this is stronger in taste compared to her ice drip coffee.
I really like the cup with the biscotti. The entire set up really did brings a feel of the old english evening tea.
Strawberry Cheese Cake - RM13.00
The friendly waiter recommended this cake to go with our drinks. Something sweet and not too overpowering to bring out the taste of the coffee and yet we can enjoy the nice cake.
The cheese cake is fluffy and creamy. With a digestive base as normal cheesecake has topped with sweet and sour strawberries and delicately coated with desiccated coconuts and nuts. The cheesy cheese filling is creamy and rich.
It does goes perfectly with the coffee as well. The after taste of the coffee of my Guatemala coffee is more enhanced with the creamy filling of the cheese.
They let me smell my coffee beans before they ground them. and they show us the grounded coffee to have a whiff again before they brew them.
* Patronage was on the 3-December-2011
One lame reason for not being able to put up my post is that I could not get my understanding to the method used in brewing my cup of coffee. Did some googling and . . .
