Tete-a-tete at Caren's

A friend should be one in whose understanding and virtue we can equally confide, and whose opinion we can value at once for its justness and its sincerity.

Friend in need is a friend indeed. Working day in day out had made each and everyone of us exhausted in some way or another. Sometimes issues made us even temperamental especially when you least expected it. I had my share too . . . That is when friends come to mind as the savior.

I know I needed to someone to listen to my rambling and comfort food when everything I do and see gets to my nerves. Finally had the chance to get together with my "Mama-friend". We exchange experience and stories of all sorts. I went over to Klang with my other buddy for the tete-a-tete session.

Meeting up with her means that there will be food on the table for us. We went for some grocery shopping to cook lunch before we start our tete-a-tete session.

Nicoise Salad

A mixture of sliced romaine green and red, butter head, purple cabbage, carrots, Japanese cantaloupe, sliced sausage and chicken ham concoct with French dressing and Japanese mayonnaise to make this refreshing and salivating dish. The contradicting taste and texture of all the ingredients made this dish very tantalizing.

Scampilicious Pesto Pasta

My dear friend had been cooking pasta to us since we were in high school. Therefore meeting her and having pasta for lunch is a norm. But this time she made it differently from the normal bolognese sauce or white sauce to spinach pesto. Pureed spinach sauce and with other herbs, chunks of tomatoes and of course her large saute prawns. I could actually finish the whole thing except that I am waiting for the dessert . . .

Durian Mousse Cake

Since durian is in the season, we bought a few packs of durian meat available in the supermarket for this dessert. The crust of the cake is made of digestive biscuit, it was baked so that it will remain intact. After that, the durian mousse is by whipping it with some cream and gelatin after removing the seed from the durian meat. Then to the freezer for a moment we had this smooth and salivating dessert. The making process is like making a non-bake cheese cake only this is with durian flesh.

These two kids are really lucky to have a mum like her.

A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.
